I am the owner of M. H. Mandelbaum Orthotic & Prosthetic Services, located in Port Jefferson. We fit design and fabricate artificial limbs and braces for people and sometimes pets. We see patients ranging in age from newborn through geriatrics. A newborn may require a harness for a dislocated hip or may be born with a congenital malformation or amputation. We see patients with neuromuscular problems, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, traumatic brain injuries, cerebral vascular attacks, traumatic injuries, amputations, sports related injuries, scoliosis, etc.
We provide braces for toe walking, muscle weakness or abnormalities, curvature of the spine, knee, back and neck injuries. We also provide limbs for amputees that are congenital or have acquired amputations due to peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, cancer and trauma.
We rely on referrals from orthopedists, neurologists, physiatrists, vascular surgeons, physical therapists, nursing care facilities, patients and more recently... managed care contracts. We have staff privileges at several of the major hospital in Suffolk County.
